With Telugu Desam Party led by former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu launching a massive campaign accusing the YSR Congress party leaders of being responsible for the spread of dreaded Coronavirus disease, the ruling party on Wednesday launched a counter-attack.
YSRC legislator and spokesman Ambati Rambabu referred to the reports that appeared in a section of social media that some of the employees of Heritage Foods, promoted by Naidu family, had been afflicted with Coronavirus and a large number of Heritage employees were quarantined.
“This has been reported in several news channels as well. It is the responsibility of the TDP chief to respond as it is an issue concerned with lakhs of people who consume Heritage milk and its products,” Ambati said.
He said there was every possibility that the consumers of Heritage milk products might have contracted the Coronavirus disease, since the company employees had tested positive. “This might spread to wider areas,” he cautioned.
He said it was time Naidu come out immediately and disclose the facts and statistics.
“He has to give a clarification as to what exactly had happened, how many of Heritage staff had been affected by the virus and how many of them had been quarantined. Heritage Group might be his private concern, but since it involved lakhs of people, he owes an explanation to them, particularly because he gives lecturers to the state and central governments every day to avoid Covid-19,” Ambati said.
The YSRC spokesman also demanded that the Telangana government order an inquiry into the reports of surfacing of Covid-19 in Heritage Foods.
“It should come out with an action plan to prevent the spread of virus from Heritage to its consumers. If there is no clarification and action, it will lead to a lot of concern among the people of the Telugu states,” Ambati added.
