CM Ramesh doesn't rule out TDP-BJP pact!

Rajya Sabha member from Kadapa C M Ramesh might have shifted his loyalties from the Telugu Desam Party to Bharatiya Janata Party to protect in business interests. But it appears he has not completely lost his affinity to his parent party.

Even as TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been making desperate attempts to get back into the fold of the BJP by appeasing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah, his party leaders back home are vehemently opposing his attempts.

A couple of days ago, BJP national secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Sunil Deodhar reiterated that there is no question of entering into an alliance with the TDP at any cost now or in future. This was asserted by many other BJP leaders like Somu Veerraju and G V L Narasimha Rao.

But Ramesh dismissed the arguments of his party leaders about the impossibility of a TDP-BJP alliance in future.

“Whether the BJP will have an alliance with the TDP or any other party cannot be decided by Sunil Deodhar or GVL Narasimha Rao or for that matter CM Ramesh,” he said.

The defected MP said the BJP is a national party and any such decisions would be taken at the highest level involving leaders like J P Nadda, B L Santosh and Amit Shah.

“Nobody knows what will happen in politics. The Central leadership will take a call depending on the prevailing situation,” he said.

By saying that the local leaders would not decide on the TDP-BJP alliance, Ramesh indicated that there might be such a possibility in future, triggering yet another speculation in the state politics.

It may be mentioned that Sunil Deodhar recently made serious comments over the alleged domination of defectors from other political parties, particularly those from Telugu Desam Party, in the state BJP.

He reportedly made a comment that BJP had become a parking place for defectors from the TDP, triggering a debate in the party. Apparently, he was upset with the domination by defectors from TDP like Sujana Chowdary, C M Ramesh and Adinarayana Reddy.

The latest decision of the BJP national leadership to entrust the responsibility of the party campaign in Badvel assembly constituency to C M Ramesh and Adinarayana Reddy has terribly angered the local BJP leadership.

Deodhar reportedly argued that the primary objective of the party is to wipe out the TDP from Andhra Pradesh so that the BJP would replace it as the major opposition.

“If we start promoting the coverts from the TDP, how can we grow in the state?” he reportedly asked.
