Chandrababu's Rule: Either Drought Or Floods?

One common claim made by Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu's detractors is that during his rule, there is always drought and scarce rainfall. However, when Chandrababu returned to power this time, heavy rains followed.

The Srisailam project is now full of water, and TDP supporters quickly took to social media to counter these long-held perceptions. Many believed that with good rains, crops would thrive.

But the situation has now reversed.

Andhra Pradesh is experiencing heavy rains, leading to significant crop loss, especially in the Krishna and Guntur districts. Similar issues are being seen in other regions.

Banana crops in East and West Godavari are being damaged due to excessive rainfall. However, North Andhra is currently faring better.

If the rains stop now, the situation might improve, but if they continue or intensify, rice crops could also suffer.

Historically, November and December are known for storms. If the people are fortunate and these months pass without incident, things will stabilize, allowing the government to focus on governance without additional pressure. However, if cyclones strike again, the critics may resurface.
