Chandrababu chapter closed: Sai Reddy

The ruling YSR Congress party in Andhra Pradesh feels that Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu would not be able to continue his political career, which may end within the four walls of the Rajahmundry central jail.

YSRCP general secretary V Vijay Sai Reddy said Naidu’s chapter in state politics has been closed.

“It is a history now. Nobody is bothered about his arrest and the people are least interested in whether he will come out of the jail or not,” he said.

Stating that Naidu has been thrown behind the bars because he has done a major crime, Sai Reddy said the TDP would have no future, as Naidu’s son Lokesh doesn’t have the capabilities of leading the party.

“Lokesh has no qualities of a politician. He cannot lead the party in the absence of his father. So, the chapter is closed,” the YSRC general secretary said.

Another YSRC leaders and state irrigation minister Ambati Rambabu said it was impossible for Naidu to come out of the jail even if he files hundreds of petitions in various courts.

“There is no way the courts grant him bail, as they go strictly by evidences and rules,” he said.

The minister said the TDP leaders were making a hue and cry over Naidu’s health and also on security threat to him, only to bring him out of the jail on one pretext or the other.

“Doctors have said he is absolutely fine and the jail authorities clearly said there is a fool-proof security in and around the jail. So, there is nothing to worry about Naidu. The government has given him all protection,” he said.

Ambati, however, gave an idea for the TDP president to come out of the jail on bail.

“The only way he can get the bail is to bring back his former personal assistant Pendyala Srinivas from abroad. If Naidu can ask his party leaders to take steps to hand over Srinivas to the Crime Investigation Department, Naidu might get the bail,” he said.
