Chandrababu Becomes 'Zero' In Delhi

Chandrababu Becomes 'Zero' In Delhi

Every move made by Jagan is meticulously calculated, showcasing a strategic approach and methodical decision-making in his political maneuvers.

Despite a series of defeats in 2014, Jagan resiliently declared his comeback within five years and demonstrated his political prowess in the 2019 elections.

The aftermath of this victory continues to haunt Chandrababu, who witnessed a significant reduction to 23 members in the Assembly and three members in the Lok Sabha.

At the national level, the TDP faces an unprecedented situation in its history.

In the upcoming three months, TDP's representation in the Rajya Sabha will diminish to zero, with a total of 11 seats from Andhra Pradesh being credited to the YSRCP.

The Rajya Sabha elections in March will see all 55 vacancies being contested, with three seats vacant from Andhra Pradesh.

YSRCP MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, BJP's CM Ramesh, and TDP's Rajya Sabha member Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar are set to retire on April 2, 2024.

The elections to fill these vacancies will be conducted based on the existing strength in the AP Assembly. Since the elections wouldn't have concluded by then, the possibility of forming a new assembly diminishes.

Consequently, the remaining two seats, along with the one currently being vacated by the YSRCP, will be secured by the YSRCP.

The allocation of these three seats will adhere to the OC, SC, and ST categories, maintaining YSRCP's dominance.

Currently holding 9 members in the Rajya Sabha, the YSRCP will solidify its presence by electing members to the three vacant seats.

This achievement will mark a rare record in the upper house, and notably, this will also be the first time in its 40-year history that the TDP will not have a single member in the Rajya Sabha.

Chandrababu's zero parliamentary strength during general elections will inevitably become a topic of national debate.

If new members are to be elected from Andhra Pradesh again, one of the current members will need to resign or else wait until June 2026.
