Caring a damn for the protests and agitations by the people of Viskahapatnam and thousands of workers of Visakhapatam Steel Plant, the NDA government has reportedly decided to go ahead with its plan of privatising the steel plant.
According to reports from New Delhi, the Centre has worked out a blueprint for the privatisation of the steel plant.
It has called for submission of technical details, plant capacity and its assets so as to incorporate them in the bid document.
Once the details are obtained, the Centre will call for expression of interest by private parties to bid for the plant privatisation and participation of bidding, sources said.
Almost all political parties have strongly opposed the Centre’s move to privatise the Visakhapatnam steel plant.
Even the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, too, announced that they would bring pressure on the Centre to drop the plan to privatise the VSP.
The YSR Congress party government led by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, too, is making all out efforts to stall the privatisation plan. While Jagan has already written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his cabinet on Tuesday decided to move a resolution in the assembly to this effect.
Yet, the Centre appears to be unmoved and has already made up its mind to get rid of the steel plant and hand it over to the private parties.
