It is known that Pawan Kalyan, during his election campaign, emphasized that the Central Home Ministry had informed him that around 36,000 women were missing in Andhra Pradesh and attributed the issue to volunteers as well.
However, the Ministry of Home Affairs has now presented a detailed report on the missing women in Andhra Pradesh from 2019 to 2024, in response to questions posed by B.K. Parthasarathi and Lavu Srikrishna Devarayalu.
It is important to note that there is no mention of volunteers anywhere in this document.
The report indicates the following figures for missing women:
2019: 6,896 women were missing, and 6,583 were traced and brought back by the AP police.
2020: 7,576 women were missing, and 7,189 were traced.
2021: 10,085 women were missing, and 9,616 were traced.
2022: A total of 10,433 women were missing, and 10,944 were brought back (including previously missing persons).
2024: 9,695 women were missing, and 9,640 were brought back home.
Overall, the total number of women whose missing status was not resolved positively between 2019 and 2024 was 663.
We now need to see how Pawan Kalyan or Chandrababu Naidu will respond to this.
Will Pawan admit to having been mistaken? Or will he claim that the Central Home Ministry misled him? Will he come up with another argument? or remain silent which could imply an admission of saying lies.
We will have to wait and see.
