CCTV cameras in YSRCP office not functioning!

As the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras by the police outside the residence of YSR Congress party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at Tadepalli has kicked up a row, the party gave a strange explanation to the police on why it could not provide the footage from its own CCTV cameras to the police.

On Monday, the YSRCP wrote a letter to the Tadepalli police inspector stating that the CCTV cameras at the Tadepalli residence of Jagan are not functioning.

The reply was in response to a request from the police asking the party to provide the footage related to the nuisance created by the TDP workers on the birthday of party general secretary Nara Lokesh and also the recent fire incident where dry greenery caught fire outside the Tadepalli office.

The police had requested CCTV footage from the YSRCP central office to aid in the investigation of the fire incident. However, the party did not provide the footage.

On Monday, YSRCP state grievance cell president Ankama Reddy Naga Narayanamurthy sent a letter to the Tadepalli police station, giving an explanation.

In the letter, he mentioned that the party had filed a complaint regarding the incident on February 6 and the police had issued notices on February 7.

He further pointed out that in the past, activists from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had created havoc in front of the YSRCP office during rallies.

He said the CCTV cameras in the area where the incident occurred are non-functional and alleged that it was because the present government had disconnected their power supply.

“Despite multiple requests for restoration, there was no response. Since the cameras were not working, no footage was recorded,” he said.

This has raised suspicions about whether the cameras are genuinely non-functional or if this is a deliberate move to withhold CCTV footage related to the recent fire incident.
