The arrest of Devireddy Shiv Shankar Reddy alias Dondlavagu Shankar Reddy from Pulivendula in Kadapa district, considered to be a close aide of YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, provided an interesting twist to the case of the murder of Jagan’s uncle and former MP Y S Vivekananda Reddy in March 2019.
The CBI is learnt to have picked up Devireddy from a private hospital in Hyderabad, where he was undergoing treatment and took him to the local CBI office for questioning.
It may be mentioned that he was named by Viveka’s driver Dastagiri in his confession statement to the CBI.
Devireddy is a very close follower of Jagan’s cousin and Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy. He is often believed to be a shadow of Avinash.
This led to the talk that the CBI’s next target could be Avinash and some others, including Avinash’s father Bhaskar Reddy and uncle Manohar Reddy, who were also named in the confession statement of Dastagiri.
Interestingly, all these names also figured in the complaint lodged by Narreddy Sunitha, daughter of Vivekananda Reddy.
The CBI has already quizzed Devireddy several times in the past and this time, he is being subject to further grilling based on the confession of Dastagiri, source said.
