Buggana, Sriram Brief Governor On Privilege Motion

Legislative Affairs Minister Buggana Rajendranath and Advocate General S Sriram met Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan at Raj Bhavan on Monday.

General Administration Department political secretary Praveen Prakash also accompanied them.

The Privileges Committee of the Assembly had taken up a complaint given by Ministers Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and Botsa Satyanarayana against State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar.

The Privileges Committee headed by Kakani Govardhana Reddy had admitted the ministers’ complaints, which were referred to the committee by Speaker Thammineni Sitaram.

The Advocate General and the Legislative Affairs Ministers have reportedly briefed the implications of the privilege notice, including the restrictions imposed by the SEC on Minister Peddireddy.

They also explained in detail the high court orders on the SEC’s orders confining Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy to his house till February 21, the last day of the Gram Panchayat elections.

Interestingly, the Minister and the advocate general met the Governor minutes after Nimmagadda left the Raj Bhavan.

Sources say that the Minister, Advocate General and Political secretary arrived at Raj Bhavan, when Nimmagadda was waiting to meet the Governor.

Minutes after his meeting with the Governor, the SEC had cleared the unanimous elections in Chittoor and Guntur, which he kept in pending.

This was the bone of contention between Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar.
