Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath on Thursday gave a mouthful to the opposition leaders who have been campaigning on the state’s debts.
The Minister said that these leaders were spreading lies even after the RBI, CAG, and the Union Finance Minister gave a clear statement on the state debts.
He wondered where these opposition leaders were getting information that could not reach the RBI, CAG, or even the Union Finance Minister.
The debts during the YSR Congress regime were just three percent, he said and added that this government was repaying the loans taken by the TDP government.
Buggana also said that Chandrababu Naidu was known for borrowing more than any other chief minister.
He said that Naidu during his first term between 1995 and 1999 borrowed 16.8 percent, and during his second term between 1999 and 2004, he borrowed 17 percent.
The state borrowings during Y S Rajasekhar Reddy’s term from 2004 to 2009 were only 9 percent, the minister said.
Again, when Chandrababu Naidu returned to power, the state borrowing went up to 14.7 percent, Buggana Rajendranath said.
However, after Jagan Mohan Reddy took over in May 2019, the total borrowings of the state stood at 12.4 percent, the finance minister said.
He sought to advise the opposition leaders to stop spreading lies about the state’s debt.
