Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former member of Andhra Pradesh state legislative council Buddha Venkanna on Saturday expressed unhappiness over the injustice meted out to him in the party, after it came to power in the recent assembly elections in the state.
Venkanna who was expressing party ticket from Vijayawada (West) assembly constituency in the elections, could not get it, as it was allotted to the Bharatiya Janata Party as part of the alliance. The BJP fielded Sujana Chowdary from the seat and got him elected.
Sulking since then, the former MLC expressed regrets that he was not able to do anything for his followers and the people of the constituency, despite the party coming to power.
“I could not get even the local inspectors transferred, as the postings were given only as per the MLA’s recommendations,” he said.
He said he was very much pained, as no official was listening to his words.
“At present, I am compelled to depend on others. What justice can I do to my followers who are depending on me? I apologise to the party workers for my helplessness,” he said.
Venkanna said it was he, who had put up a strong fight against the highhanded attitude of the YSRCP leaders and cadres.
“When the YSRCP workers led by former minister Jogi Ramesh attacked party president N Chandrababu Naidu’s house, I was the one who had countered them and faced false cases,” he said.
He reminded that during the 2024 elections, he had washed the portrait of Naidu with his blood.
“None of the present MLAs of the TDP came to my support then. I did not say anything when I was denied the ticket for the sake of BJP. But I expected that the party would do justice to me,” he lamented.
The MLC, however, said he was only expressing his anguish nor opposition towards the party.
“I was not upset when I did not get the ticket for the MLA seat. But now, I feel only MLAs can get their works done, not the ordinary party leaders like me,” he said, adding that he would continue in the party till his last breath.
