Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s daughter-in-law has never shown any interest in politics. But she did not hesitate to come to the rescue of the party when it needed her services most.
Brahmani, who doesn’t come into the public glare much except on the occasion of the business events of Heritage Foods, which she is heading now, came into public in support of Naidu, when he was arrested in skill development scam in September.
She took active part in various programmes in support of her father-in-law and even regularly interacted with the TDP workers. But soon after Naidu came out of jail on bail, she quietly withdrew from the scene and returned to her active business activity.
But now, Brahmani is back into political activity again, as the elections to the state assembly are fast approaching. She took up the campaign on behalf of her husband Nara Lokesh, who is contesting from Mangalagiri assembly constituency again.
On Saturday, Brahmani visited Stree Shakti Kendram set up by Lokesh at Mangalagiri and interacted with women beneficiaries. The centre will be of great help to women who want to be self-reliant, she said.
She said her husband Lokesh always strived for the uplift of the poor women by providing them training in self-sustenance programmes.
“He is planning as many as 27 welfare schemes for Mangalagiri constituency. In another two months, the constituency is going to witness revolutionary changes,” she added.
In 2019, too, Brahmani, daughter of Nandamuri Balakrishna, took part in the electioneering for her husband. While Lokesh was still a dud at that time, Brahmani took it up as a challenge to campaign for him.
However, her campaign did not help the party much, as Lokesh lost the elections by a few thousand votes.
Brahmani, who graduated as an electrical engineer from Santa Clara University, went on to study MBA in Stanford University. She returned to Hyderabad in 2014 to take over the family business after Lokesh joined active politics.
