Notorious rowdy sheeter and YSR Congress Party sympathizer Borugadda Anil Kumar failed to appear before the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday, even as his interim bail expired by evening.
Borugadda was required to surrender to the Rajahmundry prison authorities within the stipulated time. However, he did not comply, prompting jail officials to inform the High Court and the East Godavari district SP about his absence.
During the bail process, the details of the sureties provided for Borugadda were submitted to the police. Since he failed to surrender, the police are now set to question those who stood surety for him.
Borugadda had initially been granted interim bail by the High Court only until March 1. However, he managed to extend it by submitting a fake medical certificate, falsely claiming that his mother required treatment at Chennai’s Apollo Hospital.
Dr. P.V. Raghava Sharma of Lalitha Super Specialty Hospital in Guntur has since clarified to the police that he did not issue the certificate. The police have already brought this forgery to the attention of the government’s legal counsel and the court.
The High Court is expected to take serious note of this fraud and may order the registration of a case against Borugadda.
Meanwhile, the management of Lalitha Hospital is also considering filing a complaint against him for forging a letterhead in their name. If filed, this could result in an additional cheating and forgery case against him in Guntur.
As Borugadda remains at large, the police are preparing to implement the High Court’s forthcoming orders.
Investigations have further revealed that, despite citing his mother’s ill health as a reason to extend his bail, he was not present during her surgery or discharge from the hospital.
Currently, his residence is deserted, and his mobile phones remain switched off. Meanwhile, a PT warrant is pending against him at the Pattabhipuram police station.
In light of these developments, the police are making arrangements to take him into custody.
