With clear indications coming from New Delhi over the possible announcement of election schedule in Andhra Pradesh another two months, the political parties are gearing up for the prestigious battle.
While YSR Congress party headed by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is fighting the battle all alone, the Telugu Desam Party headed by N Chandrababu Naidu is going in for an alliance with the Jana Sena Party led by power star Pawan Kalyan.
But there is still uncertainty over the strategy of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Though the party leaders are saying that their party has an alliance with Jana Sena Party which is still a part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), there is no clarity on its stand on the TDP.
Under these circumstances, a statement made by Telangana state BJP president G Kishan Reddy that the BJP would go it alone without any alliance in the Lok Sabha elections has added confusion to the party.
Since Kishan Reddy is still a Union minister, his statement is being taken as a broader sense. He did not clarify whether he is talking about going alone only in Telangana for the Lok Sabha elections or even in Andhra Pradesh.
If BJP doesn’t have an alliance with Jana Sena in Telangana, it has to be applicable even to Andhra Pradesh, as the statement came from a central leader.
Moreover, the BJP cannot snap alliance with its own NDA partner in one state and go with the alliance the same party in the adjacent state.
Adding to the confusion further, BJP state president of AP Daggubati Purandeshwari on Saturday said Jana Sena is still an alliance partner of the BJP and any further alliances would be decided by the national leadership.
Against this backdrop, the BJP national leadership has called for a crucial meeting of its alliance partners in New Delhi on December 21, where the party is expected to take a decision on the alliances in Andhra Pradesh.
“As Pawan Kalyan has firmed up his mind to go with the TDP and ignoring the BJP, it will be interesting to see what the BJP would do now. If it openly supports the TDP and joins the alliance, then there will be clarity. So, it is time for the party to take a call,” sources said.
