BJP blames Naidu for hoodwinking Amaravai farmers

Bharatiya Janata Party, which has been supporting the farmers of Amaravati and opposing the three capitals’ plan of the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government all these days, has suddenly changed its route and started attacking the Telugu Desam Party.

On Tuesday, BJP state president Somu Veerraju blamed it on TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for the sorry state of affairs in Amaravati and accused him of being responsible for the Amaravati farmers taking to streets demanding the capital city.

“It was Naidu who is responsible for the present plight of the farmers of Amaravati and he is now sponsoring their padayatra for political gains,” Veerraju said, while addressing a rally at Guntur.

He said during his five-year-tenure, Naidu could not build the capital city in a full-fledged manner, despite getting adequate funds from the Centre.

“It was Naidu who is responsible for the lack of a capital city for the people of Andhra Pradesh,” he alleged.

The BJP state president claimed that the NDA government at the Centre had released Rs 6,500 crore for the construction of Amaravati, of which Rs 2,500 crore was released at one go.

“Where has the money gone? Why couldn’t Naidu construct the capital city?” he asked.

Veerraju accused Naidu of wasting precious time and money by touring every country like Singapore, Japan and Malaysia and hoodwinked the people by showing graphics and creating an illusionary world.

“Yet, he could not take up any works related to the capital city, but the money released by the Centre got exhausted,” he criticised.

He reminded that the Centre had built a world-class All India Institute of Medical Sciences with Rs 1,800 crore at Mangalagiri.

“What is great? A non-existent capital which was not built by Chandrababu Naidu or the AIIMS which was built by the Centre?” he asked.
