Be ready for early polls, ex-MP tells Naidu, Revanth!

Fresh from the victory in the Delhi assembly elections, the Narendra Modi government at the Centre might expedite the process of holding simultaneous elections to the Centre and the states across the country.

This was the opinion expressed by senior Congress leader and former Union minister Chinta Mohan. He said he had got the hint to this effect, while interacting with several leaders in Delhi on Tuesday.

He said the Modi government, which has come to power at the Centre for the third consecutive time, had already made it clear that simultaneous elections.

“Now, after securing a hat-trick of victories in the assembly elections held in Haryana, Maharashtra, and Delhi, the central government seems to be moving in that direction,” he said.

Chinta Mohan sounded an alert to chief ministers of Telugu states – N Chandrababu Naidu of Andhra Pradesh and A Revanth Reddy of Telangana to stay alert regarding the possible holding of simultaneous elections.

He further said the contrary to the expectations that the simultaneous elections will be held only in 2028 or 2029, there is a possibility that they might be held in 2027 itself.

“So, Naidu and Revanth Reddy should be cautious about the possibility of simultaneous elections,” he said.
