If Andhra Pradesh state legislative assembly speaker Tammineni Sitaram has his way, three Telugu television channels – ETV, ABN Andhra Jyothy and TV5, which are considered to be pro-Telugu Desam Party media houses, will not be able to telecast live telecast of assembly proceedings hereafter.
Sitaram told a delegation of journalist union leaders on Sunday that there was no question of allowing these channels to telecast the assembly proceedings as they had clearly violated the assembly rules.
These channels had conducted live-telecast of the press meet of three TDP MLAs who were expelled from the assembly for creating ruckus in the House.
As per the assembly rules, live-telecast of the press meets of any MLAs at the media point at a time when the assembly is in session is not permitted. But, these pro-TDP channels ignored the rules and telecast the comments of the MLAs.
He, however, said notices had been issued to these channels and a decision would be taken after going through the replies of these channels.
“Till such time, these three channels would not be allowed even to enter the assembly premises,” he said.
