After a lot of dilly-dallying in the name of detailed exercise, Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday announced the party organizational committees at various levels.
As expected, Naidu declared senior leader and deputy floor leader in the state assembly Kinjarapu Atchan Naidu as the president of TDP Andhra Pradesh unit. He, however, retained L Ramana as the party president for the Telangana state unit.
The interesting part of the reconstitution of the TDP is that Naidu’s brother-in-law and Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna has been elevated to the politburo, the highest policy making body of the party.
Balakrishna is the second person from the Nandamuri family to be included in the politburo. His elder brother Nandamuri Harikrishna was there in the politburo long ago, but there were allegations that he had hardly been given any importance in the decision-making by Naidu.
All most all the party senior leaders, including ex-MPs, ex-MLAs, and present MPs and ministers are there in the 25-member politburo. Outgoing president of TDP Andhra Pradesh unit Kimidi Kala Venkat Rao has also been taken into the politburo.
Another interesting point is that former minister Galla Aruna Kumari, who had recently resigned from the politburo on health grounds has been included in the central committee of the party as vice-president.
