Bail Cancellation: Jagan Gets Time Till June 1

Bail Cancellation: Jagan Gets Time Till June 1

The special court for Central Bureau of India (CBI) cases in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday gave time to YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy till June 1 to file a counter in the petition filed seeking cancellation of his bail in the quid pro quo cases being probed by the CBI for the last nine years.

The petition seeking to cancel Jagan’s bail was filed by rebel YSR Congress party MP K Raghurama Krishnam Raju, stating that the YSRC president was misusing the bail by threatening the witnesses and giving top posts to all those who were co-accused in the case.

The CBI court, in fact, had given the last chance to Jagan to file the counter by Tuesday.

However, Jagan’s counsels pleaded with the court that the counter could not be filed due to lockdown and other compelling reasons.

Interestingly, the CBI advocate also could not file its counter on Tuesday, stating that he did not get the direction from the higher authorities.

Raju’s counsel raised an objection the pleas of Jagan and the CBI stating that they had defied the earlier orders of the court to submit their counters. He requested that both the parties be penalised for their defiance.

However, the CBI court said it would give one more last chance to Jagan and the CBI to file their counters before June 1.

“If there is response from them, the court shall proceed with the hearing straightaway,” it said.
