Even as Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been attacking the YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on every issue, his own party leader has come in support of the latter.
Senior TDP leader from Vijayawada Katragadda Babu created flutters in the political circles by putting up flex boards and posters across the city praising the much-publicised house sites distribution programme of the Jagan government.
While Naidu has been describing the house sites distribution programme as a big land scam, Katragadda Babu described it as an unprecedented and great programme.
“Distribution of house sites to 30 lakh poor people and allotment of 15 lakh pucca houses to the poor is highly commendable in the history of Andhra Pradesh. My heartfelt congratulations to chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. I wish this sacred yagnam a grand success,” he said in the posters and flexes.
However, Katragadda also made an appeal in the same posters.
“While I wholeheartedly appreciate the house sites distribution, I request you to have a rethinking on your decision of forming three capitals for the state,” he said, requesting that the capital of Andhra Pradesh be retained at Amaravati.
Apparently, Katragadda has been facing the heat of the Amaravati farmers’ agitation against the three capitals. That is why he had to mention the same to avoid criticism of being pro-YSRC.
