YSR Congress Party MP Y S Avinash Reddy attempted to mislead the investigation into the murder of his uncle and former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy by facilitating the filing of false cases against CBI officials and Viveka’s daughter, the Andhra Pradesh government told the Supreme Court in an additional affidavit submitted on Tuesday.
According to the affidavit, under Avinash Reddy’s direction, cases were filed against CBI officer Ramsingh, Sunitha (Viveka’s daughter), and Narreddy Rajasekhar Reddy.
The state government alleges a deliberate conspiracy to derail and manipulate the murder investigation.
Supporting documents submitted with the affidavit pertain to a case filed by Viveka’s personal assistant, M V Krishna Reddy, targeting the above-mentioned individuals.
The affidavit claims there were attempts to falsely implicate Sunitha and Narreddy in the conspiracy.
It further states that the then-investigating officer, G Raju, failed to conduct a proper inquiry into the case filed against Ramsingh. Raju is also said to have admitted to being threatened by Avinash Reddy.
The state government has named retired Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) K. Rajeshwar Reddy and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) G Ramakrishna Reddy as the main conspirators, claiming they orchestrated the filing of false cases.
The petition alleges they were responsible for registering a false FIR, fabricating witness statements, and preparing a charge sheet without proper investigation.
It also points out that Krishna Reddy failed to provide any credible evidence and that Ramsingh never interrogated him.
The affidavit denies allegations that Ramsingh used third-degree interrogation techniques to obtain statements against Avinash Reddy or his family.
Further, it alleges that Avinash Reddy colluded with retired police officers to shield himself and his associates from involvement in the Viveka murder case.
The affidavit claims that K Rajeshwar Reddy and G Ramakrishna Reddy pressured G Raju to avoid registering the case details in the FIR index.
The government also highlighted that on December 15 and 17, 2023, officer Raju did not interrogate Venkata Krishna Reddy, who, according to CCTV footage, never even visited the police station.
This footage was submitted as evidence, along with documents establishing that Ramsingh did not question Viveka’s PA, Krishna Reddy.
