Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y S Sharmila on Wednesday alleged that her cousin and Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy was behind the abusive and obscene comments against her, besides her other Vijayamma and cousin Sunitha.
Speaking to reporters, Sharmila said the police had obtained conclusive evidence that it was Avinash who had masterminded the posting of abusive messages by YSRCP social media activist Varra Ravindra Reddy, who has become “social psycho.”
Asking why the police were not questioning Avinash Reddy, Sharmila demanded that the Kadapa MP be arrested immediately and interrogated in connection with the abusive social media posts.
She said the police should act tough with the social media abusers who were targeting the political rivals of YSRCP.
She also charged Sajjala Bhargav Reddy with posting vulgar content against her on social media and demanded that he, too, should be thrown behind the bars.
“So far, the police are arresting only those who are directly posting the vulgar messages on social media, but not those who are behind them. Justice cannot be done to the victims, if those who were playing behind the screen role in social media abuse are not brought to book,” she said.
Taking an indirect dig at her brother Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Sharmila said the police should not leave anyone, irrespective of their stature and position.
“Such people should be dragged out of their palaces and arrested. It is unfortunate that such leaders give lectures about women safety,” she criticised.
