YSR Congress party leaders have been attacking Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu regularly on various issues. The criticism against Naidu changes from time to time depending on the issues.
But there is one criticism which Naidu has been facing from the YSRC leaders constantly without any change over a period of time is that he is a tourist-politician for Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu has constructed a palatial bungalow in Hyderabad and has been staying there for years. But in Andhra Pradesh, which he had ruled for five years, he has no permanent house.
Whenever he comes to AP, he stays in a rented bungalow at Vundavalli on the banks of Krishna river.
So, Naidu comes to Andhra Pradesh only as a visiting politician, as if he is a non-local in the state, say the YSRC leaders who argue that he has no moral right to talk about the state of which he is a non-resident.
The TDP president, however, has not responded much to this criticism from YSRC leaders every time, as it hardly impacts his prospects in the elections for now.
But as the elections approach, he may have to face an intensified attack from the YSRC, who might use his non-resident status as a weapon to attack him.
At the same time, the TDP leaders, too, may find it difficult to do up-and-down shuttling between Vijayawada and Hyderabad to meet Naidu during the election time and lobby for the party tickets.
There is no doubt that the YSRC leaders would definitely use it as a weapon to attack the TDP chief.
Apparently for this reason, Naidu is now said to be contemplating to get rid of this non-local stigma by the time election season approaches.
He is learnt to be looking for an ideal location between Vijayawada and Guntur for the construction of a new house so as to get the “local status” in Andhra Pradesh.
Once he finds a litigation-free plot closer to Vijayawada, Naidu might begin the construction of the house in the right earnest, once the Covid-19 pandemic subsides to a large extent.
So, Naidu is going to become a “pucca local” by next year!
