At last, YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy appears to have realized the futility of engaging Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), led by political strategist Rishi Raj Singh, to help bring the party back to power in the 2029 Assembly elections.
According to highly placed party sources, Jagan has terminated the contract with I-PAC, which he had rehired a few months ago despite the team’s failure to secure victory in the previous Assembly elections.
Jagan had reportedly asked the I-PAC team to leave a few days ago. However, Rishi Raj Singh requested to continue working, even without payment, until he secured another assignment.
Sources indicate that the I-PAC team has now shifted its focus to Tamil Nadu, where it recently secured small work with the ruling DMK. With Jagan unwilling to entertain them any further, the team has left Andhra Pradesh.
A few months ago, Jagan had hired a 12-member I-PAC team operating from Vijayawada. The top leadership of I-PAC made frequent visits to the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli.
Initially, party leaders were told that I-PAC was brought in to develop long-term campaign strategies and provide independent feedback on the public’s perception of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led coalition government.
However, sources reveal that I-PAC was misleading Jagan by claiming that public dissatisfaction with the Chandrababu Naidu government was already growing and that the ruling alliance was engaged in massive corruption.
As part of their strategy, Rishi and his team suggested various political campaigns for Jagan. However, the former CM realized it was too early to launch agitations, as no immediate elections were approaching, and any public outreach would not yield significant political mileage.
Realizing that I-PAC was once again failing to conduct meaningful groundwork, Jagan decided to cut ties with the team.
“Jagan understood that I-PAC was misleading him and not delivering real results. So, he asked them to leave,” sources confirmed.
