The ruling YSR Congress has denied accreditation cards for journalists in the state for the past three years.
Accreditation card gives access to the journalist to go to the Secretariat or any government office, besides the small favour of free travel within the district.
In the last three years, the Jagan Mohan Reddy government had not given accreditation cards to most of the journalists.
But surprisingly, with the election mood generating heat and the TDP and Jana Sena giving tough fight, the YSR Congress leaders seem to have realised the importance of journalists.
They hosted a grand high tea or rather a dinner party to the journalists in one of the costliest hotels in Vijayawada.
The party was to thank the scribes for their cooperation in giving media coverage for the just-concluded plenary.
Sources say that the YSR Congress leaders have offered delicious food and costliest (foreign) drinks for the journalists.
There was good gathering of journalists at the dinner party, who enjoyed the costliest hospitality of the ruling party.
But what is exciting is that at least 50 per cent of the journalists who enjoyed the ruling party’s hospitality have no accreditation cards!
Even if foreign liquor was not served, the dinner itself is costliest available in Vijayawada.
