YSR Congress MP and Parliamentary Party leader V Vijayasai Reddy alleged that former minister and TDP leader P Ashok Gajapathi Raju had robbed Rs 8,000 crore from the Mansas trust.
Vijayasai Reddy said that the government was probing into the illegal activities of the trust when Ashok Gajapathi Raju was the chairman.
He said that Ashok Gajapathi Raju had looted the money from the trust and exploited its land reserves.
He also alleged that Ashok Gajapathi Raju had alienated 846 acres of land belonging to the trust, which is now being looked into by the present government.
He said that being leader of the TDP, Ashok Gajapathi Raju enjoyed the support of Chandrababu Naidu and the state government to exploit the Mansas trust properties.
Vijayasai Reddy said that the Jagan Mohan Reddy government in the state was trying to protect the Simhachalam temple properties through various initiatives.
However, Ashok Gajapathi Raju and the TDP leaders were creating hurdles only to cover up their misdeeds in the past.
The government is committed to protect the temple properties and its dignity despite opposition from TDP and Ashok Gajapathi Raju, he said.
The Jagan Mohan Reddy government had removed Ashok Gajapathi Raju as chairman of the Mansas Trust, but, he got it back through the court orders.
Having failed in the legal battle over the trust issues, the government is now looking into the corruption aspect of the trust during Ashok’s tenure.
It is to be seen if the YSR Congress government would succeed in this mission or not.
