Are Jagan's Media Experts In Slumber?

Are Jagan's Media Experts In Slumber?

There are at least a dozen media personnel connected either directly or indirectly with the Andhra Pradesh government.

Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy himself is a media person, as he found and headed the Sakshi Group.

If the PROs are not to be counted, who were all mostly drawn from the Sakshi Group, there are close to a dozen senior journalists associated with the government.

In addition to these journalists, there is Information and Public Relations Department, which is headed by a Indian Information Service officer drafted from the Press Information Bureau (PIB).

Surprisingly or shockingly, this government has emerged as anti-media and anti-journalist.

It looks as if media in their eyes and views is only those three media houses, which have both print and electronic media.

It fails to recognise the presence of other media houses and other journalists.

For the first time in several decades, this government had not issued Accreditation Cards to the journalists on one pretext or the other.

Now, with Jagan Mohan Reddy completing two years in office by May 30, these media persons and the I & PR department have failed to get some reviews in the media.

The I & PR department is just dropping some articles in the WhatsApp groups for the journalists, with some information on the two years of Jagan’s dispensation.

Neither the journalists connected with the government nor the officials at the I & PR department have made any attempt to reach out to any of the journalists or media houses for news coverage on 2 years.

One wonders what these journalists and the department are doing? Are they in deep slumber? Or they don’t recognise media’s presence in the state?
