Former YSRC MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly vandalizing EVMs during the state assembly elections.
He was taken to the SP’s office and will be produced in Macherla court later, according to the police.
The arrest followed the High Court’s dismissal of Reddy's anticipatory bail petition.
Pinnelli and his supporters allegedly stormed a polling station, damaging EVM and VVPAT machines. The incident was captured on video, which subsequently went viral on social media.
Previously, on May 28, the High Court had granted him anticipatory bail, preventing his arrest by the police.
However, on June 3, the Supreme Court issued an order barring Pinnelli from entering the counting stations in the Macherla Assembly constituency, where counting took place on June 4.
