AP High Court will hear a house motion petition on MPTC and ZPTC elections on Sunday.
The petition was moved by Jana Sena, BJP and several others against the Parishad elections, which were resumed by new Election Commissioner Nilam Sawhney.
All political parties have demanded that the elections for the Mandal Parishads and Zilla Parishads be held afresh, cancelling the earlier process, including the unanimous elections.
The parties asked for opening of nominations afresh alleging that the ruling YSR Congress had prevented them to file their nominations in the past.
The advocates representing the Jana Sena, BJP and others have presented their arguments on Saturday.
The State Election Commission (SEC) is scheduled to present its arguments on Sunday, before the high court delivers the judgement.
The TDP had already announced boycott of the elections, while the BJP, Jana Sena and the Communist parties continue to be in the fray.
Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar, who retired on March 31, 2021, did not cancel these elections despite the representation from the political parties.
The new SEC had only resumed the elections which were paused or postponed by the previous SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar.
It is to be seen how the SEC would present its arguments in the court on Sunday, which is likely to reflect on the judgment.
