In a sensational development, Telugu Desam Party national spokesman and chairman of AP State Fibernet Ltd G V Reddy on Monday evening resigned from the post and even the primary membership of the party.
In a letter written to party president and chief minster N Chandrababu Naidu, Reddy said he was resigning from the primary membership of the party and the posts of TDP national spokesperson and chairman of AP State Fibernet Ltd on personal reasons.
He thanked Naidu for reposing faith in him and extending him support all these days, besides entrusting him with the key responsibility of the APSFL. He expressed desire that the TDP would grow further and be in the forefront in serving the people.
Reddy declared that he would not join any other political party in future but would dedicate himself to the full-time lawyer profession.
G V Reddy is believed to have taken the decision to quit the party and post, following a reprimand from the chief minister for making strong allegations against APSFL managing director and IAS officer Dinesh Kumar last week about the massive corruption in the organisation.
He terminated three higher officials of the organisation for their alleged intentional delays in executing orders, which he claimed had crippled the profit-making organisation and pushed it toward closure.
Reddy also criticised Managing Director (MD) K Dinesh Kumar for negligence in issuing orders regarding employee terminations, vendor connections, and administrative sanctions.
He questioned why the higher officials failed to comply with his directives and did not inform him about pending GST bills. The GST Commissionerate had imposed a fine of Rs 377 crore for failure to file returns.
He also highlighted that under the current administration, no new connections were given, and no additional revenue was generated, accusing Dinesh Kumar of colluding with the previous YSRCP government to harm the organisation.
As his comments created ripples in the media, Naidu asked state minister for infrastructure development B C Janardhan Reddy to sort out the issue. But GV Reddy submitted evidence to support his allegations against Dinesh Kumar.
Two days ago, GV Reddy met Naidu and tried to give an explanation, but the latter pulled him up for going to the media against an IAS officer.
“I know what is happening in the APSFL and I have intelligence reports. It is not right on your part to disclose everything before the media, instead of consulting me,” he said.
Apparently peeved at Naidu’s reprimand, GV Reddy resigned from the post and the party, sources said.
