AP Assembly to Constitute House Panel on Pegasus

AP Assembly to Constitute House Panel on Pegasus

The ruling YSR Congress took the leaf out of West Bengal chief minister Mamatha Benerji’s allegation of Chandrababu Naidu government purchasing Pegasus spyware.

The Assembly witnessed a short discussion on the Pegasus spyware during the budget session on Monday.

Chief Whip G Srikanth Reddy proposed the discussion which was taken up by the Speaker where the Ministers and legislators spoke how the TDP government tried to use public data for the party before the 2019 elections.

Minister Buggana Rajendranath alleged that the TDP government had collected peoples’ data through the RTGS control room of the state government. The data was then transferred to the TDP office which tried to remove the names from the voter list, he alleged.

However, he said that the YSR Congress had smelled the conspiracy of the TDP and approached the Election Commission and thus thwarted the TDP’s plan.

The members wanted the speaker to constitute house committee to probe into the allegation and the acts of the TDP.

The speaker said that he would announce the names of the members to be in the house committee in a day or two.

It is to be seen how the YSR Congress would handle the issue and hit back at the TDP, ahead of the 2024 general elections.
