Andhra: Rising Corona Cases Only In Red Zones?

Andhra Pradesh continues to witness sharp spike in the number of Coronavirus positive cases, but it appears the authorities have discovered that the fresh cases are emerging only from Red Zones, not newer areas.

On Friday, two more deaths and as many as 62 new cases for Coronavirus were reported from different parts of the state. But a close look at the health bulletin sent by the state government shows that the new cases were mostly confined to four or five districts.

Of the two new deaths, one was from Kurnool and another from Anantapur. So far, the deaths were reported mostly from Kurnool and Guntur (eight each), Krishna (seven), four from Anantapur and two from Nellore.

Out of the total number of 955 cases, 261 were from Kurnool, 206 from Guntur, 102 from Krishna and 73 from Chittoor. Looking the fresh cases today, Kurnool reported 27, Krishna 14, Guntur 11 and four in Anantapur.

Apparently, even in these districts, the fresh cases are emerging only from red zones and containment areas, though they are under strict lockdown norms.

Health Minister Alla Nani said that the pandemic was not in all parts of the two districts but was restricted only to a few areas.

He said chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy ordered the officials to monitor the situation from ground zero level and take stringent measures in the containment areas.

He asked them to ensure the availability of daily essential goods near containment zones. Only one pass for a family should be given and only that person should be allowed to come outside.

He ordered the officials to intensify the preventive measures in Nandyala as more number of cases are showing up there.
