Andhra employees mounting pressure on Jagan

For quite some time, the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh has been struggling manage its financial position due to mounting debts and its commitment to implement welfare schemes as promised in his election manifesto.

As a result of its tight financial position, the Jagan government has not been able to pay salaries to its employees on time, let alone implementing the wage revision as per the Pay Revision Commission recommendations, besides other promises made in the manifesto such as removal of contributory pension scheme.

After holding a series of negotiations with the state government officials and even advisor to the government Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, the employees seem to have lost their patience now on getting their long-pending demands achieved.

The employees’ unions now have set a deadline of Wednesday to the government to disclose the PRC report and implement the wage revision with immediate effect.

“If there is no response from the government, we shall announce our future of action,” the unions warned.

The employees are worried that the government has not been able to pay salaries and pensions on the last day of the month as promised, let alone implementing the PRC recommendations.

They are angry with the statement of state finance minister Buggana Rajendranath for saying that the employees could wait for a few days to get their salaries.

They were hoping that the government would disclose the PRC report last month, but there is no such an attempt by the government.

The union leaders are demanding that the PRC be implemented with effect from July 1, 2018 and all the arrears be released immediately.
