If the reports coming from Andhra Pradesh power corridors are to be believed, the proposed state assembly session would be held only for five days.
The assembly session will commence on Tuesday. Though the Business Advisory Committee will decide the agenda of the session on the same day, sources said the session is likely to continue only up to Saturday.
The session would be exclusively dedicated to the approval of the state budget, which could not be presented in March this year due to sudden announcement of lockdown by the Centre to contain spread of Coronavirus.
The session will start with the Governor’s address through video conferencing system from Raj Bhavan, keeping in view the Coronavirus pandemic in the state. It will get adjourned on the day.
Finance minister Buggana Rajendranath will present the budget on Wednesday and in the next three days, there would be discussion on the motion of thanks for Governor’s address and on the budgetary proposals. It will wind up on Saturday with the passage of appropriation bills.
Sources said the state budget would be with an outlay of Rs 2.60 lakh crore for 2020-21, including around Rs 70,000 crore drawn for the first three months in the form of vote-on-account through promulgation of ordinance. The ordinance will get approved during the session.
“The budget proposals will be made in tune with the expected revenues in each department, which are likely to fall due to lockdown situation. Though the outlay will be 20 per cent more than the last year budget, the government will make realistic allocations for the budget,” sources said.
