Andhra BJP begins to attack both TDP, YSRC

Bharatiya Janata Party is learnt to have decided to attack both ruling YSR Congress as well as opposition Telugu Desam Party, in an attempt to project itself as an only alternative political force for the people of Andhra Pradesh.

Apparently, the BJP leadership has realised that targeting only YSR Congress party and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy might create an impression that it was getting closer to the Telugu Desam Party.

There were speculations in a section of media that the BJP might join hands with the TDP and Jana Sena in the next elections to defeat the YSRC.

As if to dispel these rumours, the BJP leaders have now started targeting both the YSRC as well as the TDP.

On Monday, senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member G V L Narasimha Rao launched a scathing attack on both the ruling and the main opposition stating that they were cheating the people in the name of social empowerment.

Reacting to the claims of the YSRC and the TDP that social justice was possible only during their regimes, GVL said both the parties were only hoodwinking the weaker sections.

“These two parties have treated the weaker sections only as a vote bank. Only the BJP has achieved social justice at the national level,” he said, while speaking to media at Vijayawada.

He said extending sops to a handful of people among the SCs, STs and BCs did not mean doing justice to the entire weaker sections.

“Both the TDP and the YSRC have been playing caste politics and talking about social empowerment only for their political gains,” the BJP leader alleged.

GVL said it was shameful on the part of both the states that they had done justice to the BCs.

He pointed out that it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who had ensured 27 per cent reservation to the OBCs in medical seats and implemented Rohini Commission recommendations.

He challenged the TDP and the YSRC to come for an open debate on the social justice agenda. He demanded how many BCs these two parties had sent to Rajya Sabha when they were in power.
