Anchor Shyamala turns active in YSRCP

Popular Telugu television anchor Are Shyamala, who had campaigned for YSR Congress party in Pithapuram and had been subject to heavy trolling for predicting the defeat of Jana Sena Party chief and power star Pawan Kalyan from Pithapuram in the last elections, had been lying low after the election results.

She even tendered apology for her comments against Pawan Kalyan, albeit indirectly, and requested his fans to spare her because she never intended to hurt anybody but had only expressed her views.

Now that she has been appointed as the official spokesperson of the YSRCP, Shyamala has become active again in politics and has given up her inhibitions in attacking Pawan Kalyan as well as the TDP leaders.

On Tuesday, Shyamala went hammer and tongs at TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his government, besides Pawan Kalyan and Nandamuri Balakrishna for failing to protect women and girls in the state.

Shyamala alleged that the TDP leaders were shielding the culprits rather than ensuring justice.

She questioned whether even one of the accused in the 75 rape cases reported in the last four months had been punished under his leadership.

Shyamala highlighted the alarming rise in violence against women, pointing out that six women were brutally murdered after being raped, and an additional 200 women have been attacked over the last 120 days under the TDP coalition government.

She further emphasized that, despite these horrific incidents, no concrete action has been taken by the government to address or prevent such crimes.

Shyamala criticized the government for disabling the Disha app, which had previously helped over 31,600 women.

She claimed the app was made ineffective because it highlighted the good work of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Shyamala also showed photos of Nara Lokesh and Home Minister Anita burning copies of the Disha Act while they were in opposition.

She called for the Disha app and the initiatives of the law to be brought back to ensure the safety of women.
