Former minister and senior YSR Congress party legislator from Venkatagiri Anam Ramanarayana Reddy appears to be mentally prepared to get out of the YSRC, as he got enough indications that he might not get the party ticket in the next elections.
Speaking to reporters at Nellore on Thursday, Anam said he had been elected for a period of five years by the people of Venkatagiri. So, I will be the local MLA till 2024.
“But it appears the party is not allowing me to continue till then,” he said.
Anam was peeved at the way his rival and Nellore YSRC president Nedurumalli Ram Narayana Reddy has been claiming to be the next MLA from Venkatagiri.
“One gentleman has already started campaign that he is going to be the next MLA from Venkatagiri. He is eagerly waiting for me to vacate the seat,” he said.
The former minister expressed his disgruntlement before the YSRC observer, while addressing the party coordinators’ committee meeting at Dakkili in Tirupati district.
He asked the party observer to give clarity as to whether he was being considered the party MLA from Venkatagiri.
“I am getting the doubt whether I am an MLA or not. Has the party high command chosen anybody as the new MLA for Venkatagiri? Why are you telling the party workers that there would be a new MLA for the constituency soon when I am still the local MLA?” he asked.
Anam said when he was taking part in Gadaka Gadakapu Prabhutvam programme, people were pouring out their woes because he was an MLA.
“They won’t represent their issues to me, if I am not their MLA. So, I want clarity from the party high command,” he said.
