Amaravati not a priority for Jagan?

Amaravati not a priority for Jagan?

It looks like construction of new capital city Amaravati is not the priority list of YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who assumed charge on Thursday.

Jagan, who had interacted with senior officials of the government, said Amaravati works could wait, as he had other priorities in mind, especially implementation of his nine promises – Nava Ratnaalu.

“We already have an interim secretariat and interim high court, which are in good condition. We can happily work from these buildings and there is no need to borrow huge funds from external agencies and take up the works on war footing,” he is understood to have told the officials.

If the chief minister has his way, the works on the ongoing construction of permanent secretariat, permanent assembly building and high court could be stopped until further orders.

Jagan would soon have a meeting with the officials of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) and take a call on what to continue and what not among the given constructions.

Sources said the government might give priority to continue works on residential complexes for employees, IAS and IPS quarters, judges’ quarters and legislators’ building complex which are nearing completion. The remaining works could be kept in pending, sources said.
