Amaravati IRR case: Jagan govt suffocates TDP

It appears the Crime Investigation Department of the Andhra Pradesh police is tightening the noose around the Telugu Desam Party leaders in the Amaravati Inner Ring Road case, as the agency is digging out into it.

Even as the CID authorities on Tuesday began questioning of TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh in the case after serving him notice under Section 41-A of the Criminal Procedure Code, the state high court denied anticipatory bail to his father and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.

At the same time, a petition filed by the CID in the Anti-Corruption Bureau court in Vijayawada seeking prisoner transit warrant against Naidu will be coming up for hearing in the court on Tuesday.

Simultaneously, the CID authorities are all set to question former municipal administration minister Ponguru Narayana in the same case.

He filed a petition in the state high court seeking anticipatory bail in the case and it will come up for hearing on October 16.

As if it is not enough, the CID filed fresh memo in the ACB Court including Narayana’s wife Ponguru Rama Devi, her relative R Sambasiva Rao and Narayana College employee Dhanunjay’s wife Prameela and relative Avula Manishankar in the case.

Apparently, the CID authorities obtained concrete evidence to show that crores of rupees were transferred from Rama Devi’s accounts into the accounts of Prameela, Manishankar and Sambasiva Rao.

They, in turn, were found to have bought lands on the sides of Amaravati inner ring road, including pieces of assigned lands. These lands are said to be very close to the seed capital and start-up area of Amaravati.

Not stopping with this, the CID also issued notices to Narayana’s son-in-law Puneeth asking him to appear before the investigating office on October 11 on the suspicion that he, too, had a hand in the purchase of the assigned lands.

Puneeth filed a petition in the high court challenging these notices and the issue is expected to come up for hearing on Tuesday.

More and more skeletons are said to be tumbling out of the cupboard of Narayana and other TDP leaders in this regard.
