Popular comedian Ali, who had high hopes on getting the YSR Congress party ticket for either Lok Sabha seat or an assembly seat in any corner of Andhra Pradesh, has gone silent, as he could not get either.
In fact, YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy gave the party tickets to five Muslim minorities, but due to various reasons, he could not accommodate Ali, though his name was considered for Nandyal or Kurnool Lok Sabha seat or any other assembly seat in Rayalaseema.
Ali, who is also an advisor to the government on electronic media affairs, is expected to monitor the YSRCP campaign in the electronic media, has not been seen in the party office or any other party programmes.
In fact, the YSRCP leadership wants Ali to lead the campaign in some parts of the state, especially in the areas dominated by minorities. But since there is no request from the party to that effect and Ali doesn’t want to volunteer to help the party.
Apparently, he was upset for being denied the ticket and therefore, he has decided to keep away from politics, at least for the time being. Sources said he would like to maintain a low profile till the elections are completed.
If YSRCP led by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy returns to power, Ali might get back into the limelight and may expect one post or the other, though Jagan has not promised him anything for now.
“If the YSRCP loses power, Ali may keep quiet for some time, before trying his luck with Jana Sena Party, as he still maintains very good relations with the Mega family,” sources said.
