Notwithstanding the tall claims by the officials about stringent measures being taken to contain Coronavirus spread, the number of positive cases has been rising alarmingly over the last few days.
On Thursday, the state has reported a huge number of 425 positive cases for Covid-19, the highest-ever till now.
Out of 13,923 samples tested in the last 24 hours, as many as 299 people from the state tested positive.
Besides, another 100 cases were reported from those migrants who came from other states and 26 from abroad – taking the total number of positive cases in the last 24 hours to 425.
In all, as many as 7,496 people tested positive till now, an official bulletin from the state medical and health department said.
So far, as many as 2,983 people got discharged from the hospitals. Besides, 92 patients died of Covid-19, including two in the last 24 hours, both from Krishna district.
With new cases mounting by the day, the recovery rate fell significantly to 51.49 per cent while the mortality rate remained at 1.27 per cent.
The state government is worried that the viral disease has been spreading from those coming from outside – other states as well as other countries. Till now, 1,353 cases were from other states and 289 from foreign countries.
“The only way is check this is to conduct tests for everybody coming from outside the state and the country,” an official said.
