Ahead of polls, Jagan govt targets TDP MLA!

As the elections for the Andhra Pradesh state assembly draw near, the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government has uncovered crucial evidence targeting Telugu Desam Party MLA from Parchuru, Yeluri Sambasiva Rao, for alleged electoral malpractices in 2019.

On Friday, Revenue Intelligence authorities initiated action against Nova Agri Tech Pvt Ltd for electoral malpractices, accusing the company of illicit money flow during the 2019 elections. Yeluri Sambasiva Rao heads the company.

Official sources indicate that Bapatla district police have informed the Income Tax department, Enforcement Directorate, and SEBI about the unveiled illegal activities.

DRI authorities conducted searches on Wednesday at the premises of Nova Agri Tech Pvt Limited in SriLakshmi Nagar, Guntur.

During the search, a diary with handwritten pages was discovered, providing information about the bribery of voters during the 2019 general elections.

The contents of the diary (entries written in 13 pages) detailed cash inflow and outflow for the illegal distribution of bribes to voters just before the elections.

The diary, recovered in the presence of independent witnesses and company employee P V Narayana, implicated Pullela Ajay Babu, a retired ex-employee.

When asked to explain the entries in the diary, Ajay Babu absconded from his residence and switched off his phone.

Upon reviewing dates, village names, booth-wise vote numbers, transport charges for outside voters, and other details, it appeared that illegal and black money was funneled through unknown channels for bribing voters during the 2019 general elections, according to official sources.

The Election Commission was not informed of the expenditures.

Employees and key persons associated with the NOVA group of companies were allegedly deployed to carry out illegal transactions on behalf of the MLA candidate Yeluri Sambasiva Rao, sources claim.

Villages mentioned in the diary, such as Duddukuru, Inkollu, Tahtiparthivaripalem, Gangavaram, are within the Parchuru assembly constituency.

Reports indicate that one entry showed the delegation of work to three employees (Apparao/Bujjibabu/Saiganesh) regarding the distribution of Rs 15 lakh to voters in the village of Duddukuru.

The flow of money from the Nova group of companies into intermediary bank accounts and the withdrawal of cash for apparent illegal activities is under examination, sources added.
