The politics of Andhra Pradesh are turning curious and curiouser with every passing day with the ruling YSR Congress party and the opposition Telugu Desam Party stepping up their lobbying with the powers-that-be at the Centre.
Even as Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu is expected to return from Delhi after “successfully” striking a deal with the Bharatiya Janata Party national leadership on forging an alliance, it is the turn of YSRCP president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to fly to Delhi.
Jagan is leaving for the national capital on Thursday evening and will have an overnight stay lobbying with the Central leaders. On Friday morning, he is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a one-on-one talk.
Though officially, the meeting is meant to discuss the issues pertaining to the state, including additional release of funds and implementation of pending promises made in the bifurcation act, it is obvious that Jagan will definitely raise the political issues.
He is likely to raise the fallout of the TDP-BJP-Jana Sena Party alliance in Andhra Pradesh and request the Prime Minister not to create any troubles for him ahead of the elections.
Sources said though Amit Shah has taken the initiative to bring the previous NDA partners back into its fold, Modi is not very interested in admitting Chandrababu Naidu into the NDA.
“So, Jagan will capitalise on this and convince Modi that it is always dangerous to have an alliance with the TDP in the long run,” sources said.
