A day after conducting a series of raids on the residences and offices of senior Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader and state BC welfare minister Gangula Kamalakar, the central investigation agencies on Thursday turned their attention on the TRS Rajya Sabha MP Vaddiraju Ravichandra from Khammam.
Since Thursday morning, sleuths of Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax departments have been conducting raids on Vaddiraju Ravinchandra’ houses and offices at Srinagar Colony in Hyderabad,
The raids which have been going on for the last 11 hours are apparently on the tip off that the TRS MP had indulged in large scale irregularities in granite export scandal.
The ED suspects that Ravichandra had violated the provisions of Foreign Exchange Management and Regulation Act (FEMA and FERA).
Apart from Ravichandra, the central agencies also conducted raids in the offices and residences of many other granite dealers.
Meanwhile, Gangula Kamalakar, who returned from abroad after coming to know about the ED, I-T raids, returned to Hyderabad on Wednesday night.
He told reporters at the airport that he would extend complete cooperation to the Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax department.
He denied any irregularities in his company which was being operated after obtaining all permissions from the government in a transparent manner.
He said he had asked his family members and staff to provide access to the officials to examine all information and lockers.
“It is the responsibility of the investigation agencies to ascertain the truth. They should reveal whatever they have seized during the search operation,” he said.
