Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former minister Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao, whose controversial tweet against Jana Sena Party chief and power star Pawan Kalyan landed him in deep trouble, sought to correct it saying it was a fake tweet.
In the morning, a post that appeared on Devineni’s Twitter handle, had some nasty comments on Pawan Kalyan and his Jana Sena Party.
The post referred to the three options given by Pawan Kalyan for forging alliance with the TDP and the BJP.
It read: “The options given to us by these sannasis (idiots), who couldn’t win even a single seat reminds us of a proverb which talks about a person who can’t jump up to touch the hanging pot (utti) but claims he can touch the sky.”
Obviously, the tweet was referring to Pawan Kalyan’s option given to the TDP for an alliance. By calling Pawan indirectly as a “sannasi,” Devineni created a storm in the political circles.
By afternoon, the tweet disappeared from the social media, but by then, it went viral and widely circulated in the media circles.
Within no time, YSR Congress party spokesman and minister Ambati Rambabu picked it up and attacked Devineni.
Ambati posted on twitter asking whether Devineni had the guts to admit that he had deleted the post on his own (fearing backlash from Pawan’s fans).
In the evening, Devineni claimed that it was a fake tweet by YSRC social media people by hacking his Twitter handle.
“It was a conspiracy by Ambati himself. He was the one who posted the fake tweet on my handle. I will complain to the CID authorities tomorrow,” the former minister asserted.
He alleged that the YSRC leaders were trying to create differences between opposition parties and castes to foment troubles. In fact, the CID should file suo motu cases and investigate into the matter, he demanded.
