After biryani, cops offered bed to Borugadda!

Just three days ago, the Andhra Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, ordered the suspension of seven police officials, including two sub-inspectors, for taking rowdy-sheeter and activist Borugadda Anil Kumar to a restaurant and treating him to biryani.

Even as the controversy began to subside, another video surfaced on Saturday showing police officials providing Borugadda with a bed, bedding, pillows, and bedsheets within the police station. The footage quickly spread across mainstream and social media.

This incident occurred at Arandelpet Police Station in Guntur between October 26 and 29, while Borugadda was in police custody for questioning in a blackmailing case.

It remains unclear whether the police questioned him effectively, but he was allegedly given preferential treatment.

CCTV footage from the station shows Borugadda giving instructions to the police, who seated him in the sub-inspector’s designated chair and served him food at the table.

Later, they set up a bed on a long table with a mattress, bedsheet, and pillows for him to rest—facilities that are typically prohibited for remand prisoners.

Ironically, the local DSP told a news channel that there was “absolutely no violation of rules” in providing these amenities to Borugadda.

According to court guidelines, a remand prisoner in police custody should not experience undue discomfort during questioning.

When the reporter asked if all remand prisoners would receive similar amenities, such as chairs, beds, and bedsheets, the DSP was unable to provide a clear answer.

He attempted to justify the arrangement by explaining that Borugadda wasn’t feeling well and was uncomfortable sleeping on the floor, so the police arranged the bed for him.
