In a significant move, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has suspended Satyavedu MLA Koneti Adimulam following allegations of sexual harassment.
A woman has accused the MLA of rape and torture, with videos of the alleged harassment going viral on social media.
In an effort to safeguard its image, the TDP high command swiftly issued a suspension order, distancing itself from the MLA. This action is seen as an attempt to protect the party’s reputation amid the controversy.
This is not the first time the TDP has taken such action.
In the past, the party suspended G. Deepak Reddy, a former MLC from Rayadurgam, following his arrest in a land scam in Hyderabad.
Despite the suspension, there were rumors that Deepak Reddy, a close relative of former minister JC Diwakar Reddy, remained active in party politics, with some speculating about his involvement in Lokesh’s "Yuvagalam" padayatra.
The details surrounding the overruling of his suspension remain unclear.
As the case surrounding Adimulam unfolds, many are reminded of past suspensions and are left questioning whether similar outcomes may follow.
