Adani To Andhra, Amazon To Telangana!

Adani To Andhra, Amazon To Telangana!

A day after the Andhra Pradesh state cabinet led by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy announced approval for the setting up of an integrated data center by Adani group at a cost of Rs 14,630 crore, Telangana also came up with a major announcement of setting of data center by Amazon group at an investment of Rs 20,761 crore.

Telangana IT and industries minister K T Rama Rao announced that Amazon Web Services would set up multiple data centers in the state at a huge investment of Rs 20,761 crore, which is the largest Foreign Direct Investment in the history of Telangana.

He said the Amazon Web Services (AWS) would set up an AWS Region with three Availability Zones (AZs) in Hyderabad. The AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region is expected to start operations by mid of 2022.

The availability zones would consist of multiple data centers in separate distinct locations within a single region that are engineered to be operationally independent of one another with independent power, cooling, physical security, and connections via a low-latency network, KTR said.

The investment of $ 2.77 billion from AWS would position Telangana as one of the preferred destinations for other companies that are looking to set up data centers in the future.

“Establishment of data centers like AWS is expected to support Telangana’s digital economy and IT sector in a multi-fold way,” the  official release quoting the minister said.

The new AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region will enable even more developers, startups, and enterprises as well as government, education, and non-profit organizations to run their applications and serve end-users from data centers located in India.

He said he had met officials from AWS during his Davos visit earlier in the year and subsequently to arrive at the closure on the investment in a swift manner. The investment, the largest foreign direct investment

In Andhra Pradesh, the Adani group would also set up Integrated IT and Business Park, Recreation Centre and Skill Development University in Visakhapatnam.

Minister Kannababu said that opposition TDP leaders have been spreading false news that the Adani Group had left the project.

In fact the Chief Minister and State government had sanctioned the projects and signed an MoU by allocating 150 acres to create employment for 25,000 people. For the same project, the previous government had given 500 acres of land and signed for 6,000 jobs.
