ABV Provokes Reddys Against Chandrababu

Caste politics are becoming increasingly prominent in Andhra Pradesh, with voters now starkly divided along caste lines.

It is widely acknowledged which communities traditionally back TDP, YCP, and Janasena.

However, a surprising development in the recent elections was the Reddy community’s shift against YCP, dealing a double blow to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Reddys played a significant role in Jagan's defeat. Historically influential in swaying other communities' votes, the Reddys themselves turning against YCP spelled trouble for the party.

Despite Jagan's attempts to regain the community's trust, the Reddys remain skeptical of his leadership.

Amid this backdrop, retired IPS officer AB Venkateswara Rao stirred controversy with divisive caste-based comments.

He called on Kammas to unite against Jagan Mohan Reddy and ensure he does not return to power.

While such remarks have provoked Reddys to retaliate, reminding Rao that their votes also contributed to the Alliance’s victory, his statements have drawn criticism for stoking caste tensions.

Now, Reddys and other communities, including SC, ST, BC, and Minority groups, are reportedly rallying against the Alliance government and leaning toward YCP.

AB Venkateswara Rao’s comments appear to be politically damaging to Chandrababu Naidu, raising questions about why caste issues are being inflamed instead of focusing on governance.

Meanwhile, YCP supporters see this as an opportunity, believing it could polarize groups against the TDP-led Alliance.
